Global Business Intelligence (BI) and analytics software provider, Yellowfin, has been recognized as the top performing cloud BI solution – in the ‘Dashboard’ and ‘Ad-hoc Reporting’ Vendor Peer Groups – in the Business Applications Research Center’s (BARC) The BI Survey report for the third year in a row.

Known as the world’s largest annual survey of BI users, this year’s version of the report, The BI Survey 14, was based on data collected from 3,224 respondents.

Cloud BI is clearly a space that Yellowfin dominates,” said Founder and CEO of BARC, Dr Carsten Bange. “Yellowfin has been the top ranked ad-hoc reporting and dashboard vendor in cloud BI over the past three years of BARC’s The BI Survey.

“Yellowfin has obviously invested heavily in cloud BI and was early to market with its solution. Yellowfin’s clients reported strong achievement of the business benefits sought from their BI implementations.”

The report also noted Yellowfin’s flexible licensing model and cloud-based deployment options as factors contributing to its cloud BI dominance.

“Yellowfin supports deployments as SaaS in traditionally hosted environments or in the cloud, supporting either multi-database or multi-tenancy environments,” stated the report. “Its flexible subscription-based pricing model helps in this area.”

Yellowfin General Manager for EMEA, Daniel Shaw-Dennis, said that Yellowfin’s strong support for cloud-based BI was indicative of its mission to make BI as easy and accessible as possible.

“Yellowfin has always focused on making BI easy to deploy, integrate, manage and use,” said Shaw-Dennis. “SaaS-based deployments often have many benefits that minimize the ongoing cost and complexity of BI implementations. Yellowfin’s aim is to make pervasive consumer-oriented BI accessible to all sizes of organization and all types of users. Yellowfin’s cloud BI deployments deliver a great analytical experience and strong ROI for our customers and partners.”

Yellowfin has been recognized as the top ranked Dashboard Vendor over the past three iterations of The BI Survey in: Cloud BI, Mobile BI and Innovation. Yellowfin also achieved the top ranking in the Ad-hoc Reporting Vendor Peer Group, over the past three versions of the study, for: Cloud BI and Innovation.

Yellowfin ranked first for four KPIs (Price-to-value perception, Cloud BI, Mobile BI and Innovation) – and was identified as a leader for an additional 12 KPIs – within the Dashboard Vendor Peer Group of The BI Survey 14.

Yellowfin was also a top ranked BI solution in three KPIs (Price-to-value perception, Cloud BI and Innovation) – and pinpointed as a leading BI product in a further 13 KPIs – within the Ad-hoc Reporting Vendor Peer Group in The BI Survey 14.

BARC’s The BI Survey 14 provides an apples-for-apples comparison of the globe’s foremost 34 BI products, assessed across 34 KPIs and over eight Peer Groups, to establish “winners and losers” for important functional, performance, scalability and support criteria.

The BI Survey 14 is the 2014 edition, and thirteenth iteration, of the study.
