How, and in what contexts, are businesses using tablets?
Speaking of rising demand, uptake and the potential benefits of delivering enterprise data on tablets devices is fine. For the most part, it’s interesting and topical.
But, how are different industries utilizing tablet PCs for remote data access, and in what contexts?
After collating a vast amount of information relating to current organizational tablet practices, Gartner presented a list of how different industries are using tablets for business at this year’s Gartner Symposium/ITxpo.

Mobile BI: “a rising tide”
Business Intelligence (BI) thought leader, former Gartner Research Fellow and President and Founder of Dresner Advisory Services, Howard Dresner, has found that demand for Mobile BI in general is on the rise.
In his updated 2011 Mobile Business Intelligence Market Study, respondents across the board said that they planned to increase the number of personnel with access to Mobile BI. And reflective of the transition to enterprise mobility, 70 percent of respondents said that 25 percent or more of their current users would receive analytics exclusively on a mobile device by 2013. Only three percent of respondents said that their company would have no one receiving BI exclusively from mobile devices by 2013.
