Why you should work for Yellowfin

Yellowfin is growing quickly and we’re putting every dollar we earn back into the business. Our biggest investment by far is in our people – we’ve historically grown our employee base by 30% to 40% each year, with no sign of slowing down. So, we’re always on the lookout for great people to bring on board.

What’s so great about working at Yellowfin?

One of the reasons I started Yellowfin was because I wanted to work at a place that excited me every day. Now 14 years down the track, I’m still excited by what I do and the people I work with.

The biggest benefit of working at Yellowfin is our culture. We don’t drain the lifeblood from you – Yellowfin is a place where people are invigorated by the work they do. We have always prioritized culture over benefits and people appreciate that.

We want everyone that works for Yellowfin to really love their job and be successful at it. That’s why our culture allows people to live a fulfilling life – we value and care about your family.

Yellowfin also offers great opportunities to develop and evolve professionally because we continue to grow. There’s always something new on the horizon – a continuous renewal – that can be really motivating. We’re constantly innovating and there are always new challenges to take on.

Many people at Yellowfin also have the opportunity to move across functions. Consultants have moved into more technical roles; tech people have moved the other way. As we continue to grow there will be even more opportunities for people to move across functions and develop new skills.

Daniel Shaw-Dennis is one great example, he’s done almost every job at Yellowfin – from sales to marketing to consulting. He’s developed a breadth of experience because he’s been willing to get involved and try different things and he’s kicked a lot of goals along the way.

Are you more than just another cog in the wheel?

At Yellowfin, we’re always looking for people who are excited by what we do, enjoy being part of a team and really want to get involved and contribute. We don’t have any hard and fast requirements – we need people across all functions, from sales and marketing to development – and most people we hire have never worked in BI before. Our business can be taught, but attitude can’t.

We look for people who have a level of self-assurance and self-efficacy. We value people who think autonomously and believe in themselves. We appreciate people who want to express their ideas freely.

If you want to wear a grey suit and enjoy having someone tell you what to do every day, then you’re unlikely to succeed at Yellowfin. But if you’re willing to work in an environment that can be ambiguous and complicated, but also enlivening and thrilling then you may be a good fit.
