Yellowfin BI and analytics software named in DBTA 100 for 2015

Global Business Intelligence (BI) and analytics software vendor, Yellowfin, has been named among the globe’s most influential companies in data management and analysis in Database Trends and Applications (DBTA) magazine’s 2015 DBTA 100: The Companies That Matter Most in Data.

The DBTA 100 is the third annual list of “the companies that matter most in data”, providing “a reflection of the IT ecosystem as it exists now.” Compiled by DBTA’s experienced editorial team, the list recognizes companies based on their presence, execution, vision and innovation in delivering products and services to the marketplace.

Managing editor of DBTA magazine, Joyce Wells, said that Yellowfin was selected to appear on the 2015 list for its ability to deliver an innovative range of BI functions via a single integrated platform.

“Delivering BI functionality via a single integrated platform, Yellowfin provides interactive dashboards, support for data exploration, collaboration, data visualization, and mobile device access,” said Wells.

Yellowfin CEO, Glen Rabie, said that Yellowfin’s listing was reflective of its ability to meet growing industry demand for collaborative capabilities and business-user-oriented BI functionality.

“To meet the demands of an increasingly large and less technical audience, BI needs to become more consumable, sharable, effortlessly intuitive and pervasive,” said Rabie. “At Yellowfin, we understand that to do that, we need to deliver BI you’ll love. Our mission is to design BI that’s easier to use; more collaborative and can reach anyone, anywhere, anytime with the information they need to act.

“To deliver on this vision for our customers, Yellowfin incorporates unique collaborative capabilities, such as Timeline – a Facebook-like newsfeed, throughout Yellowfin’s BI platform. Simply put, data and data analysis is more valuable when shared broadly throughout an organization. To support widespread BI deployments and usage, Yellowfin has also struck a fine balance between business user demand for self-service information access and the governance requirements of enterprise IT.”

“The need for data analytics is becoming more acute,” continued Wells. “In the last two to three years there have been dramatic changes in IT. Data is being created and amassed at higher rates than ever before, and is increasingly viewed as a valued asset, or even a product itself.”

Group Publisher at DBTA, Thomas Hogan, echoed Wells’ views, stating that businesses are increasingly looking for fresh ways to manage and leverage their information resources to create new opportunities and deliver a real competitive advantage.

“A fundamental change is taking place where every business is also moving towards becoming a data business,” said Hogan. “This list seeks to highlight those companies that have been successful in establishing themselves as unique resources for data professionals and stakeholders.”
