Yellowfin dashboard best practice event to help combat BI failure rate

Yellowfin CEO, Glen Rabie, has said that the vendor’s upcoming dashboard best practices Webinar series would help organizations rectify notoriously low success rates for Business Intelligence (BI) projects.

The BI vendor will hold three concise forty minute Webinars throughout Tuesday 18 and Wednesday 19 September.

“Worldwide enterprise IT analyst and advisory firm, Gartner, has estimated that around 80 percent of BI projects end in failure, citing poor communication as the most common factor that ultimately undermines success,” said Rabie. “But dashboards are also the most common tool used to communicate BI content, suggesting that poor dashboard design and delivery plays a large role in BI failure and persistently poor user adoption rates, which languish between eight and 24 percent. Yellowfin’s dashboard best practices Webinar series aims to help change that troubling status quo.”

Rabie said that Webinar attendees would learn how to:

  • Design dashboards that provide instant insight
  • Create dashboards that are relevant to job function, appropriate for mode of consumption, relate to business strategy and prompt accurate, timely action
  • Select appropriate visualizations that best communicate the message that each chosen KPI within a dashboard of reports is intended to convey

Gartner’s 2012 CIO survey ranked BI as the number one technology priority for CIOs in 2012, while respondents to Dresner Advisory Services’ 2012 Wisdom of Crowds Business Intelligence Market Study rated dashboards as the most important strategic BI technology.

“Not only does this research indicate that dashboards are a crucial component of BI deployments – and for pushing BI outside the confines of the IT department – it also underscores the importance of designing and delivering dashboards correctly.”
