As Yellowfin's new General Manager (GM), I'm excited to share our progress in 2024 and our vision for 2025. Yellowfin is committed to empowering your organization with smarter business intelligence (BI) solutions that drive data-driven decisions. We believe in the power of embedded analytics and the transformative potential of AI analytics to unlock valuable insights, and our focus remains on simplifying BI and removing barriers, so you can quickly and effectively deliver value to your customers.

Having joined Yellowfin a few months ago, I’ve been bringing my background leading Yellowfin consulting and solutions to dive deep with the team into what makes our platform unique and where we can make it even better. With your feedback and collaboration, we’ve been shaping a future where insights are not just accessible, but actionable and transformative. 

As we kick off 2025, let me share a reflection on 2024, and a glimpse into the exciting innovations ahead.

Celebrating Yellowfin’s achievements in 2024

This past year has been the transition between past and future for Yellowfin. We officially celebrated two decades of innovation, and released innovative features and updates that reinforce our position as a leader in embedded BI. 

Here’s a snapshot of what we accomplished:

Ask Yellowfin and Code Assistant AI chatbots launch

In 2024, we introduced two new AI-driven tools to speed up our customer solutions: Ask Yellowfin and Code Assistant. These chatbots are designed to simplify your experience with Yellowfin, making it easier to integrate our platform into your ecosystem. 

Whether you need quick answers about Yellowfin’s functionality or assistance automating management and configuration tasks, these tools are here to help. 

20 years of innovation

Yellowfin celebrated a milestone in 2024: 20 years of innovation. Yellowfin’s 20th anniversary is an achievement that underscores our commitment to staying at the forefront of BI solutions and especially embedded BI.

Over the past two decades, we’ve continually evolved to meet the needs of our customers, and we have so much more in the works to advance Yellowfin into the next decade. G2 High Performer for Analytics Platforms

Yellowfin continued to be recognized by its customers and users, and was awarded High Performer in the Australia Regional Grid Report for Analytics Platforms (Winter 2025). This follows previous awards for BI and Analytics Platforms Leader in G2’s Summer 2022 and 2023 reports.

Release of Yellowfin 9.14

The culmination of our 2024 efforts was the release of Yellowfin 9.14. This update enhanced our REST API, giving developers more flexible control while streamlining features for report creation. 

These enhancements (which you can read more about in our Yellowfin 9.14 release highlights wrap-up) reflect our dedication to making Yellowfin not only powerful, but also developer-friendly and intuitive.

A leadership transition

On a personal note, 2024 marked my arrival as General Manager (GM) of Yellowfin. This transition is a significant step in a new direction for the company, as I bring a hands-on perspective shaped by over 15 years of overseeing Yellowfin solutions. 

Having worked closely with the product in real-world scenarios, I’ve seen firsthand how Yellowfin’s simplicity outpaces our competitors. My mission is to ensure this simplicity is reflected in every aspect of our operations, from product design to customer interactions.

Looking ahead: Yellowfin product vision 2025

As we step into 2025, Yellowfin is more energized than ever to build on our momentum and deliver on the promises we’ve made to our community, as detailed in our latest Yellowfin Product Roadmap & Vision Update. This year, we will bring to life the innovations and advancements we’ve been working on behind the scenes. Here’s what you can expect:

1. Expanding AI capabilities

We are focused on innovating with AI analytics tools only in those features that truly benefit our customers and make the creation of their analytics solutions faster and easier.  Our innovations in AI with Yellowfin will be prominent in 2025, as we roll out new features designed to make data insights more accessible and actionable for more people (non-technical and experts alike). Key highlights include:

• LLM-based Natural Language Queries (NLQ): We’re introducing true natural language queries powered by Large Language Models (LLMs). This will build on our existing NLQ feature to enable users to interact with their data in a conversational way, making complex queries intuitive and user-friendly.  Users will then be able to take those answers and immediately collaborate on them as Yellowfin reports.
  
  
• AI-Driven Assisted Insights: Long anticipated, assisted insights will get a big AI boost as our state-of-the-art insight generation engine will become available to customers this next year. This feature will empower embedded BI solutions and business users to uncover hidden patterns and trends with ease, driving smarter decision-making.

2. Simplifying deployments and integrations

We’re rethinking our technology to make deployments even simpler and integrations more seamless. For organizations embedding Yellowfin into their solutions, 2025 will bring:

• Streamlined DevOps integration: We’re enhancing compatibility with modern DevOps practices, making it easier for developers to embed Yellowfin into their workflows.
• Improved deployment options: Whether on-premises, cloud, or hybrid, our goal is to provide flexible deployment solutions that reduce complexity and speed up time-to-value.
  
  

3. Advancing embedded BI

Embedding BI into customer-facing solutions has always been a core strength of Yellowfin, and we’re doubling down on this capability. In 2025, we’ll continue to innovate ways to make embedded BI faster, easier, and more impactful for your end users.
