Yellowfin Launches AI-Powered Natural Language Query (AI NLQ) in Version 9.15, Enhancing Self-Service Business Intelligence

AUSTIN, TEXAS, USA, April 24th, 2025 - Yellowfin, a leading global provider of business intelligence (BI) and analytics solutions, announces the release of Yellowfin 9.15, featuring groundbreaking AI-enabled Natural Language Query (AI NLQ). This update significantly enhances self-service data analysis capabilities, alongside general usability, administration improvements, security updates, and bug fixes.

AI NLQ is a new enhancement to Yellowfin Guided NLQ that allows users to ask data questions and type their queries in plain language into the question bar, without having to follow complex syntax rules or knowing the column names containing the data they need. Leveraging artificial intelligence, AI NLQ automatically generates natural language queries into accurate Guided NLQ syntax, helping more people access the full potential of Yellowfin’s natural language query tool and generate complex business queries for deeper insights into their operational data.

For line-of-business users who need additional support in building their data queries, AI NLQ also brings a new Suggested Questions option that auto-generates a list of helpful prompts to ask the tool, based on the current meta-data setup for the underlying data set.

Important security and privacy Information: Use of the AI NLQ feature requires an active OpenAI account. Only metadata (columns, data types, reference codes) and user questions are sent to the AI model. No raw data is transmitted, and role-based access controls allow for fine-grained management of the feature.
